“Ba Sau Mien Tay” is the brand inspired by the life of Mrs. Sau Mai from Long Xuyen Ward, An Giang Province, Vietnam – a land of rivers in the Mekong Delta. Her husband was a farmer, and together they raised five children.

Back in the 1970s–80s, when life was still full of hardships, every family meal was a careful gathering of what her husband caught from the river. The spiny goby fish, sand goby fish, climbing perch fish… under her skilled hands, they became rich, flavorful braised fish dishes – infused with the essence of the Mekong Delta, warming the hearts of her children.

Those humble meals nourished not only her family but also the dreams of her youngest son, Pham The Long. At every meal, he would exclaim:

– “Mom, your braised fish is so delicious! When I grow up, I’ll bring this dish to the whole world!”

Mrs. Sau would just smile gently and reply:

– “As long as you remember this taste, wherever you are will always feel like home.”

Growing up with both his mother’s love and flavors, Mr. Long carried with him the unforgettable image of a simmering clay pot of braised fish – savory, slightly sweet, rich in flavor – best enjoyed with fragrant steamed rice.

Years later, when he became the owner of a food manufacturing and exporting company, Mr. Long fulfilled his promise: to share his mother’s cooking with the world.

He officially registered the brand “Ba Sau Mien Tay” as a tribute to the authentic culinary spirit of his hometown, and named the project “Ca Kho Ba Sau” (Ba Sau Claypot Stewed Fish) – a warm, familiar name that recalls the very roots of his mother’s kitchen.

With the mission of bringing Vietnamese family meals closer to dining tables worldwide, the BSMT brand has become a trusted choice not only for overseas Vietnamese longing for the taste of home, but also for international customers. Today, its products are proudly available in demanding markets such as the United States, Australia, and Canada.

At first, the name “Ca Kho Ba Sau” (Ba Sau’s Claypot Stewed Fish) was chosen to honor the signature family recipe of Mrs. Sau Mai. Yet in her kitchen, it wasn’t only fish that carried memories, it was also her Stewed Pork Meat with Egg (Thit Kho Tau).

In the Mekong Delta during the 1970s and 1980s, fish was plentiful, caught daily from rivers and rice fields. But pork was a luxury, hard to find, expensive, and precious.

To Mrs. Sau, stewed meat with egg was more than a delicious dish; it was a mother’s effort to secure a better future for her children. Every week, she tried to save just enough to buy pork for one special meal so her five children could have the nutrition to grow up strong, smart, and healthy like the children in the city.

Each time she managed to cook it, the pot of Thit Kho Tau simmered gently with fresh coconut water until the pork became tender and the sauce turned glossy amber brown. For her youngest son, Long, it wasn’t just the tastiest dish, but also the warmest childhood memory in those years of hardship.

While her braised fish became the most famous dish, in his heart it was Thit Kho Tau that remained the most treasured, an unforgettable symbol of family love. Mr. Long later expanded his mother’s dream, introducing not only ready-to-eat frozen stewed fish but also stewed pork meat with egg and seafood products to customers around the world.

By 2024, the BSMT brand had grown to offer more than 30 products, providing modern homemakers with convenient solutions. With BSMT, they can continue to devote themselves to both career and family while still gathering around a table filled with authentic, flavorful Vietnamese home-cooked meals.
